We work with professional theatre companies, touring productions, film sets, and broadcast wardrobes across the UK — providing specialist Costume-Safe wet cleaning at the standard production requires.
Based in Portishead. Nationwide courier service. We'll work around your production schedule.
From a handful of principals' costumes to an entire touring wardrobe, we have the scale and the processes to handle it. Dedicated Costume-Safe cleaning cycles, full inspection, and individually handled pre-spotting and stain treatment.
No drop-off limits. No minimum that makes large wardrobes impractical. We're built for volume at professional standard.
Production schedules don't wait. Our Encore service includes priority turnaround for professional clients — we'll work to your dates, not a standard queue.
If you need costumes back for a specific rehearsal, press night, or shoot day, tell us upfront. We plan capacity around it.
Our Costume-Safe wet cleaning process is designed for exactly the kind of garments production wardrobes contain — embellished, structured, multi-fabric, frequently worn under hot lights and stage makeup.
No PERC solvents. No optical brighteners. No treatments that degrade fabric or embellishment over repeated cleaning cycles.
Production wardrobes get hard use — multiple performances a week, under stage lighting and body heat, with costume changes that give garments no time to breathe. Regular professional cleaning extends wardrobe life significantly and keeps costumes looking right from the front row.
We handle end-of-run cleans, mid-run refreshes, and full wardrobe turnarounds between legs of a tour. Collection and return arrangements available for larger productions.
Continuity depends on costumes looking exactly right, take after take. We understand the stakes and the paperwork that goes with it — each garment returned clean, inspected, and clearly identified.
End-of-shoot cleans, between-season refreshes, or ongoing support throughout a production run. We'll work to your workflow.
We started as an in-house cleaning operation for Costume Source — the UK's leading dance costume hire company. Hire stock demands consistent, high-volume cleaning to professional standard, and that's exactly what we built our facility around.
If you operate a costume hire service, we understand the volume requirements and the standard you need to maintain. We can support regular cleaning contracts as well as one-off batches.
Specialist performance garments — from delicate ballet tutus and pointe skirts to embellished opera costumes — require cleaning processes that protect construction and embellishment without compromise.
Our Costume-Safe wet cleaning system was developed with exactly these garments in mind. We clean them regularly for one of the UK's largest costume hire operations — and we can clean them for you.
Production wardrobes are rarely straightforward, and we don't expect them to be. Get in touch before you send — tell us about the garments, the volume, and the timeline. We'll confirm the best approach and arrange logistics from there.
Nationwide courier service as standard. For larger wardrobes, we can discuss collection and return arrangements.
Talk to us about your productionYes. We operate at scale — our facility was built to handle high-volume, repeat cleaning for one of the UK's largest dance costume hire companies, and we have the capacity to take on production wardrobes alongside that. Get in touch to discuss volumes and scheduling.
For standard bookings, costumes are sent to us via courier or Royal Mail and we return them the same way. For larger production wardrobes, we can discuss collection and return by courier on account. Contact us before sending to confirm the best approach for your volume.
Turnaround depends on volume and current scheduling. For production clients we build priority turnaround into the Encore service — tell us your required-by date when you make contact and we'll confirm whether we can meet it. We'd always rather know about a tight deadline upfront than be asked to rush at the end.
Wet care is suitable for the vast majority of performance garments — stretch fabrics, mesh, embellished pieces, structured dancewear, and most theatrical costume fabrics. There are exceptions: real leather, suede, heavily canvassed tailoring, and some thermally bonded garments are not suitable. If you have garments you're unsure about, get in touch before sending and we'll advise.
Yes — for theatre companies, hire operations, or any client with a regular cleaning requirement, we're happy to discuss a contract arrangement. Regular clients get consistent priority scheduling and pricing that reflects the ongoing relationship. Contact us to discuss what a contract might look like for your operation.
